IMPLANTS
Pour Implants qui joue en premier, il y a quand même pas mal de monde. Un public de qualité qui connaît toutes les chansons. Pour moi, qui ne connais rien à part la première toune, l’ambiance de la foule a réussi à me faire embarquer solide. Aussi parce que j’étais collée « front row » sur ma meilleure amie que j’adore.

Ils ont terminé leur set avec « Generator » de Bad Religion, à leur façon, et honnêtement, c’était juste parfait. J’trouve ça l’fun quand les bands introduisent un ou des covers pendant leur set – ça témoigne de leurs influences, de leurs goûts… Bref, une partie du pourquoi on les voit live.

PENELOPE
J’avais vu le groupe la semaine d’avant, en mode pré-RBF au Moulin Marcoux. Ce moment privilégié et intime avec eux m’avait donné beaucoup de plaisir. Surtout en voyant Vincent Bussières tellement heureux de les voir, au milieu de la foule, dans le pit, chantant TOUTES les paroles et faisant faire du bodysurf à son kid.

La différence entre cette petite salle chaleureuse et un festival, en une semaine, pour un band tout juste reformé… j’me demande TELLEMENT le feeling que ça peut faire! Et en plus, y’avait du monde massé à l’avant. Prestation de feu. Chapeau. Et finir avec « Rémi sans famille », comment mieux conclure qu’avec une foule qui chante avec toi?

FRENZAL RHOMB
Super énergie, interaction de fou avec le public et entre eux. Ils avaient vraiment l’air heureux d’être là, et leur enthousiasme était hyper contagieux.

Le bassiste a voulu aller jouer devant les bannières. Le guitariste a essayé de le suivre mais voyait pas comment accéder… parce qu’en vrai, y’a AUCUN accès : il a tout bonnement bondi d’une place à l’autre

Pour vrai, j’ai rarement vu un groupe aussi généreux en bonne humeur. Instantanément, t’as envie de devenir ami avec tout le band – ils ont trop l’air trippants!

VOODOO GLOW SKULLS
S’il y a un groupe que j’attendais avec impatience, c’est bien Voodoo. Pis j’ai pas été déçue! Ils étaient tellement bons, tellement beaux, tellement tight!

C’était juste du bonheur d’être là, à côté du pit, de sentir la vibe du groupe et de la foule. Mon « highlight » du vendredi. Une phrase qui me fait toujours rire : « pis c’est là que tu meurs dans l’pit ». Mais pas avec Voodoo. Nah. Eux, tu meurs du début à la fin de leur set. Jamais de temps mort. Juste du bon.

GOLDFINGER
Super band, avec la belle présence de Mike Herrera en plus – mon dieu yé-tu beau c’t’enfant-là! Aucune surprise avec GOLDFINGER : on sait que ça va être bon, que ça va être liché, rodé, que le monde va tripper.

Donc, vers le milieu du set, je me suis éloignée de la foule pour aller m’étendre dans le gazon tout au fond. Pour vrai, à la fin des journées, c’est TELLEMENT quelque chose que j’aime faire : être couchée dans le gazon, regarder le ciel, pis écouter d’la *$%& de bonne musique.

Encore une fois, ils ont fait monter des enfants sur scène pendant « Superman » – je l’ai entendu dire, mais j’regardais les étoiles, donc vous me direz s’ils l’ont vraiment fait – et ils ont terminé cette superbe première journée avec « 99 Red Balloons », en musique comme au figuré, avec leurs fameux ballons rouges.

IMPLANTS
Pretty decent crowd for an opening band. Quality audience too – people who knew every single song. As for me, I knew absolutely nothing except the first song, but the crowd’s vibe totally pulled me in. It also helped that I was glued front row with my bestie, who I absolutely adore. The band ended their set with “Generator” by Bad Religion, in their own style – and honestly? It was just perfect. I love when bands throw in a cover or two during their set – it shows their influences, their tastes… a piece of why we want to see them live.

PENELOPE
I had seen them the week before, in pre-RBF mode at the Moulin Marcoux. That intimate and special moment with them brought me so much joy. Especially seeing Vincent Bussières so damn happy, in the middle of the pit, and the crowd singing EVERY word, and even getting his kid to bodysurf. The contrast between that cozy little venue and the full-on fest vibe in just one week, for a freshly reunited band… I kept wondering what that must feel like. Plus, people were packed up front. Killer performance. Hats off. And ending with “Rémi sans famille” – seriously, what better way to wrap it up than with a crowd singing along?

FRENZAL RHOMB
Insane energy, wild interaction with the crowd and with each other. They looked genuinely happy to be there, and that joy was super contagious. The bass player tried to go in front of the banners, and the guitar player tried to follow but couldn’t figure out how to get there… because there literally wasn’t a way. He had just leapt from one spot to the next like it was nothing 

Honestly, I’ve rarely seen a band radiate that much pure joy. You instantly want to be friends with all of them – they just seem like such a good time!

VOODOO GLOW SKULLS
If there was one band I was dying to see, it was Voodoo. And they did not disappoint. So tight, so good, so damn cool! Pure happiness to be standing next to the pit, soaking in the band’s energy and the crowd’s vibe. My highlight for Friday. A phrase that always cracks me up: “and that’s when you die in the pit.” But not with Voodoo. Nah. With them, you die from start to finish. No breaks. Just goodness.

GOLDFINGER
Amazing band, and with the lovely presence of Mike Herrera – good Lord, is that man gorgeous! There’s no surprise with Goldfinger. You know it’s going to be tight, polished, and that the crowd will eat it up. So halfway through the set, I walked away from the crowd and laid down in the grass way out back. Honestly, that’s one of my favourite things at a fest – lying on the grass, staring at the sky, listening to some kickass music. Once again, they brought kids up on stage during “Superman” – I heard him say it, but I was watching the stars, so you’ll have to confirm if it actually happened – and they closed this beautiful first day with “99 Red Balloons,” literally and figuratively, with their famous red balloons.
