PIRANHA BAR
Troisième soirée, troisième salle. Pas trop de trafic en ce dimanche. En 45 minutes, j’étais sortie du parking. Autant parler de téléportation rendu là !

SPADES GT
Band de Toronto, première fois à MTL depuis plus de cinq ans. J’étais tellement certaine de les avoir déjà vus pourtant… mais c’est ça l’affaire. À force d’aller partout, j’ai l’impression d’avoir déjà vu des faces que j’ai jamais vues.

Le show commençait à 19 h, c’était encore un peu timide au niveau de l’affluence, mais c’était bon et ça donne envie de les voir plus souvent à Montréal.

BALLISTIX
Groupe de la scène locale qui nous vient de Longueuil. Sont beaux, sont jeunes, y sonnent ben, y ont des beaux cheveux pis moi, je sonne comme une prédatrice en disant qu’ils sont beaux pis jeunes.

Pour vrai, ils sont vraiment talentueux. Ils ont sorti un EP en 2024, disponible sur les plateformes de streaming.

BURNT KNIVES
Groupe de l’Ontario également, ils ont participé à d’autres dates en Ontario de la tournée canadienne de THE EXPLOITED. C’est plus hardcore, c’est solide. C’est l’fun, car les trois bands locaux étaient toutes de belles découvertes pour moi. Bon, là certains me diront : « Oui, mais pour toi c’est sûr que c’est nouveau, c’est du hardcore. » Ce à quoi je dois répondre que c’est vrai.

Pis c’est cool que ça me sorte de ma zone de confort. Vendredi et samedi, j’étais en terrain très connu. Dimanche, à part THE EXPLOITED, j’étais dans le néant. Pis c’est ça que j’aime, découvrir des bands. Y’a rien de plus triste que de rester accroché aux vestiges du passé sans évoluer.

En t’k, le chanteur portait un p’tit béret Kangol pis je trouvais que ça allait pas avec le ton de sa voix. Genre que ça l’adoucissait. Ben à la dernière toune, il a enlevé son béret pour chanter crâne tatoué à découvert. Bonnnn là mes yeux pis mes oreilles étaient en symbiose  C’est comme si ça avait changé le personnage au complet. Pas pire pantoute, les p’tits monsieurs.

THE EXPLOITED
Pour une raison qui m’échappe, je n’ai pas le souvenir de les avoir vus en show avant-hier soir. Remarque que je m’en souviens peut-être juste pas. J’ai eu une pas pire passe « punk hard party hard », donc y’a du flou dans une couple de décennies de ma vie.  C’est-tu pas beau à voir, hein, un band de punk dans la soixantaine avec encore tous leurs cheveux ! Fouille-moi pourquoi, mais hier j’avais une solide fixation sur le capillaire des gens.

Faque. Hier (dimanche), 2e soir au Piranha pour ce band légendaire. Samedi était sold out, pis dimanche, c’était pas pire pas mal plein aussi. Les gars ont livré ça comme pas possible. Les solos de guitare étaient incroyables. Le dude (moi pis les noms, on oublie le projet) a pris le cell d’un spectateur pour se filmer pendant un solo en mode selfie. WTF. Ils ont été ultra-généreux par leur attitude et leur professionnalisme. Ça faisait beaucoup de shows en peu de temps pour la tournée canadienne, mais ils ont pas botché leur dimanche pour autant.

La crowd avait beaucoup d’enthousiasme, la gate se faisait aller comme le bateau pirate à La Ronde. Same thing. On ne savait pas si ça allait crasher à un moment donné.

Ce que j’aime du vieux punk, c’est que les titres des tounes sont représentatifs des tounes. Genre le titre = 80 % des paroles pendant toute la durée de la chanson. On ramène cette mode-là, svp. Pis le band qui a invité la crowd à monter sur le stage durant Sex and Violence. Vraiment un beau moment, le public était tellement heureux de les rejoindre, d’être avec eux. Pis moi, je suis heureuse d’avoir capté ces instants.

THE EXPLOITED nous a offert plus de 60 minutes de prestation. Même s’ils étaient fatigués, ils n’arrêtaient pas ! Une dernière avant la dernière ! Merci pour cette générosité. Extrêmement apprécié et ça rend l’expérience encore plus magique.

SHOUT OUT
Au méga bel accueil qu’on a reçu par tous les membres du staff au PIRANHA BAR. Par tous les gens qui travaillent sur cette tournée. À Alain au son, qui fait un travail de perfection. Merci à tous d’accueillir des médias indépendants

PIRANHA BAR
Third night, third venue. Not too much traffic on this Sunday. I was out of the parking lot in 45 minutes. Might as well call it teleportation at this point.

SPADE GT
Band from Toronto, first time in Montreal in over five years. I was so sure I had seen them before… but that’s the thing. By going everywhere, I feel like I’ve seen faces I’ve never seen before. 

The show started at 7 p.m., and the crowd was still a little shy, but it was good and it makes me want to see them more often in Montreal.

BALLISTIX
A local band from Longueuil. They’re handsome, they’re young, they sound good, they have nice hair, and I sound like a predator saying they’re handsome and young. 

Seriously, though, they’re really talented. They released an EP in 2024, available on streaming platforms.

BURNT KNIVES
Also from Ontario, they played other dates in Ontario on The Exploited’s Canadian tour. They’re more hardcore, more solid. It’s fun because the three local bands were all great discoveries for me. Now, some people will say, “Yeah, but of course it’s new to you, it’s hardcore.”  » To which I must reply… that’s true.

 But it’s cool that it takes me out of my comfort zone. On Friday and Saturday, I was in very familiar territory. On Sunday, apart from The Exploited, I was in the dark. And that’s what I love, discovering bands. There’s nothing sadder than clinging to the vestiges of the past without evolving.

Anyway, the singer was wearing a little Kangol beret, and I thought it didn’t go with the tone of his voice. It kind of softened it. Well, on the last song, he took off his beret to sing with his tattooed head exposed. Then my eyes and ears were in perfect harmony. It was as if it had completely changed the character. Not bad at all, guys.

THE EXPLOITED
For some reason, I don’t remember seeing them live before last night. But maybe I just don’t remember. I had a pretty wild “punk hard party hard” phase, so there are a couple of decades of my life that are a bit hazy. 

Isn’t it great to see a punk band in their sixties with all their hair still intact! I don’t know why, but yesterday I was really fixated on people’s hair.

So. Yesterday (Sunday) was the second night at Piranha for this legendary band. Saturday was sold out, and Sunday was pretty much sold out too. The guys delivered like crazy. The guitar solos were incredible. The dude (me and names, let’s forget about that) took a spectator’s cell phone to film himself during a solo in selfie mode. WTF. They were extremely generous in their attitude and professionalism. It was a lot of shows in a short time for the Canadian tour, but they didn’t mess up their Sunday.

The crowd was very enthusiastic, the gate was going like the pirate ship at La Ronde. Same thing. We didn’t know if it was going to crash at some point.

What I love about old punk is that the song titles are representative of the songs. Like, the title = 80% of the lyrics throughout the entire song. Let’s bring that trend back, please.

And the band invited the crowd to join them on stage during Sex and Violence. It was a really beautiful moment, the audience was so happy to join them, to be with them. And I’m happy to have captured those moments.

The Exploited gave us over 60 minutes of performance. Even though they were tired, they didn’t stop! One last one before the last one! Thank you for your generosity. It was so appreciated and it made the experience even more magical.
