AVRIL LAVIGNE + SIMPLE PLAN + CHIARA SAVASTA | FEQ – SCÈNE BELL | 04.07.2025
Ce vendredi 4 juillet s’annonce une soirée nostalgique sur les Plaines d’Abraham, avec les prestations d’AVRIL LAVIGNE et de SIMPLE PLAN, mais également de découverte avec CHIARASAVASTA. Une belle soirée en perspective. D’ailleurs, à voir le nombre important de fans qui attendaient impatiemment aux différentes entrées puis la fameuse chicken run pour avoir une bonne place devant la scène.
CHIARA SAVASTA, une Montréalaise talentueuse, a eu l’opportunité d’ouvrir devant un public de plus en plus nombreux. Bien que son genre musical, l’indie pop, ne soit pas dans mes habitudes d’écoute, il est indéniable que cette jeune autrice-compositrice-interprète possède une énergie débordante et une présence scénique remarquable. Elle semble parfaitement à l’aise sur scène, captivant l’audience avec son charisme et son dynamisme.
C’est sur la musique thème de Star Wars que se sont présentés les membres du groupe SIMPLE PLAN. Après un début remarquable sur « I’ll Do Anything », Pierre Bouvier (voix) lance un « comment ça va, tout l’monde? », entraînant un déferlement de cris et d’applaudissements.
À sa grande joie, il a su faire sauter les spectateurs, toutes zones confondues. Il a ensuite invité Claudia Bouvet à venir chanter la partie féminine de « Jet Lag », originalement chantée par Marie-Mai.
Rappelant que le groupe joue depuis plus de 20 ans, Bouvier affirme que parfois, les fans des premières heures veulent entendre « du bon vieux Simple Plan », annonçant ainsi « Addicted ».
Afin de maintenir l’engagement du public, SIMPLE PLAN a déployé diverses animations : des ballons géants pendant « Summer Paradise » et des participants costumés en chiens lors de « What’s New Scooby Doo? ». Sur « I’m Just A Kid », Pierre Bouvier s’est installé à la batterie pour un passage instrumental tandis que Chuck Comeau s’est mêlé à la foule en crowd surfing. Le concert s’est conclu par « Perfect », repris en chœur par les spectateurs.
La prestation d’AVRIL LAVIGNE a répondu aux attentes du public. Arborant une nouvelle apparence avec ses cheveux blonds aux pointes colorées, la chanteuse affichait un style rappelant l’esthétique emo, notamment avec ses bas résille et de hautes bottes noires à semelles compensées. Elle a livré une performance solide en interprétant ses titres emblématiques tels que « Girlfriend », « Complicated » et « Here’s To Never Growing Up ». Un entracte musical, accompagné de la projection d’extraits vidéos retraçant ses débuts — émissions télévisées, cérémonies de remise de prix, entrevues – a permis à AVRIL d’aller chercher sa guitare pour jouer « My Happy Ending », « He Wasn’t » et « Don’t Tell Me ».
Ayant récemment lancé un simple en collaboration avec les membres de SIMPLE PLAN, une performance conjointe était attendue. Le groupe a rejoint AVRIL LAVIGNE pour l’interprétation de ce nouveau titre, « Young & Dumb », évoquant leurs débuts respectifs datant de 2002. Plusieurs fans, sélectionnés au hasard dans la foule, ont été invités sur scène afin de partager ce moment. Ils ont reçu un skateboard signé avant que des t-shirts ne soient lancés dans le public. C’est là que nous avons eu droit au jeu de mot de Bouvier du genre : « Ayoye! Québec! Les Plaines sont pleines! ». Après avoir interprété « All the Small Things » de Blink-182, le groupe a quitté la scène.
AVRILa ensuite elle aussi pris en bain de foule, descendant devant la scène et dans le corridor de sécurité pour donner la main aux nombreux fans sur « Love It When You Hate Me », puis a enchaîné avec l’emblématique « Sk8er Boi » avant de s’absenter brièvement.
La chanteuse est ensuite apparue tout de blanc vêtue pour trois dernières pièces, dont la finale en force de « I’m With You », sa robe de crinoline flottant dans le vent.
En résumé, une soirée intense qui laissera bien des voix éraillées, la mienne y compris.

This Friday, July 4th promises to be a nostalgic evening on the Plaines d’Abraham, with performances by AVRIL LAVIGNE and SIMPLE PLAN, as well as a chance to discover CHIARA SAVASTA. It’s shaping up to be a great night. In fact, judging by the large number of fans eagerly waiting at the various entrances and then the famous “chicken run” to get a good spot in front of the stage.
CHIARA SAVASTA, a talented Montrealer, had the opportunity to open for an increasingly large audience. Although her musical genre, indie pop, is not something I usually listen to, there is no denying that this young singer-songwriter has boundless energy and remarkable stage presence. She seems perfectly at ease on stage, captivating the audience with her charisma and dynamism.
The members of the band SIMPLE PLAN introduced themselves to the Star Wars’ theme. After a remarkable start with “I’ll Do Anything”, Pierre Bouvier (vocals) asked, “How are you doing, everyone?”, prompting a wave of cheers and applause. To his delight, he had the audience jumping up and down, across all sections. He then invited Claudia Bouvet to come and sing the female part of “Jet Lag”, originally with Marie-Mai.
To keep the audience engaged, SIMPLE PLAN deployed various entertaining: giant balloons during “Summer Paradise” and participants dressed as dogs during “What’s New Scooby Doo?”. During “I’m Just A Kid”, Pierre Bouvier sat down at the drums for his instrumental part while Chuck Comeau surfed through the crowd. The concert ended with “Perfect”, with the audience singing altogether.
AVRIL LAVIGNE’s performance met the audience’s expectations. Sporting a new look with blonde hair and coloured tips, the singer’s style was reminiscent of the emo aesthetic, notably with her fishnet stockings and high black platform boots. She delivered a solid performance, singing her classic songs such as “Girlfriend”, “Complicated” and “Here’s to Never Growing Up”. A musical interlude, with clips tracing back her early career – television shows, award ceremonies, interviews – allowed AVRIL to get her guitar and then play “My Happy Ending”, “He Wasn’t”, and “Don’t Tell Me”.
Having recently released a single in collaboration with the members of SIMPLE PLAN, a joint performance was expected. The band joined AVRIL LAVIGNE for a rendition of their new track, “Young & Dumb”, evoking both artists’ debuts in 2002. Several fans, randomly selected from the crowd, were invited on stage to share the moment. They received signed skateboards before T-shirts were thrown into the audience. After performing Blink-182’s “All the Small Things”, the band left the stage.
AVRIL then took to the crowd herself, stepping down in front of the stage and into the security corridor to shake hands with fans during “Love It When You Hate Me”, then followed up with the iconic “Sk8er Boi” before briefly leaving the stage. The singer then appeared all dressed in white for the last three songs, including “I’m With You” as a powerful finale, her crinoline dress floating in the wind.
In short, it was an intense evening that left many speaking with a hoarse voice, including me.
