La scène metal internationale fait escale au Canada avec l’une des tournées les plus marquantes de l’année. Réunissant AD INFINITUM (Suisse), SEVEN SPIRES (USA) et TULIP (Canada), cet événement qui rassemble certaines des voix féminines et des sonorités les plus marquantes du metal actuel promet une soirée d’une intensité rare, où puissance symphonique, virtuosité progressive et atmosphères sombres se rencontrent sur une même scène.
Dans plusieurs villes, dont celles au Québec, la tournée Into the Abyss, revêt une importance particulière; la scène locale, déjà réputée pour son ouverture aux styles metal variés, offrant un terrain fertile à cette rencontre artistique. Les concerts y prennent souvent l’allure de célébrations collectives où se mêlent passion, intensité et communion musicale. En bref, une célébration du metal dans toute sa diversité actuelle.
Portée par la voix charismatique de Melissa Bonny, la formation suisse AD INFINITUM impose un metal symphonique moderne à la fois massif et mélodique. À leurs côtés, les Américains de SEVEN SPIRES livrent une performance spectaculaire mêlant émotion brute et complexité musicale, tandis que les Canadiens TULIP plonge le public dans un univers sonore dense et hypnotique.
Cette tournée représente une occasion unique de découvrir trois visions complémentaires du metal contemporain, réunies dans une expérience immersive et électrisante. Pour les amateurs du genre, comme pour les curieux en quête d’émotions fortes, le passage de cette tournée au Québec s’annonce incontournable.
Dès l’ouverture des portes, l’atmosphère annonçait une soirée à guichets fermés hors du commun. Une foule compacte, vêtue de noir, bruissait d’impatience devant la scène encore plongée dans la pénombre. La tournée réunissant TULIP, SEVEN SPIRES et AD INFINITUM promettait déjà beaucoup par leurs notoriétés, mais sur scène, l’expérience s’est révélée encore plus intense que prévue.
C’est à TULIP, moins connu à Québec, de lancer la soirée avec une performance immersive, presque hypnotique. Leur son dense et atmosphérique enveloppait littéralement la salle, créant une tension palpable dès les premières mesures.
La chanteuse, Ashleigh Semkiw, magnétique et « groundée », semblait canaliser une énergie intérieure viscérale.
Le public, d’abord attentif et silencieux, s’est progressivement laissé aspirer par la texture sonore profonde du quatuor. Une entrée en matière lente mais puissante, comme une montée dramatique avant l’explosion.
La lumineuse Ashleigh Semkiw, le guitariste Colin Parrish, Ryan Claxton aux drums et le bassiste Cody Casillas, avaient une excellente chimie sur scène et apportaient une énergie qui se transmettait directement au public qui s’est finalement laissé captiver.
Avec SEVEN SPIRES, le concert a changé de dimension. Là où TULIP installe, SEVEN SPIRES transforme. Leur set fut un véritable tourbillon émotionnel. Passages symphoniques grandioses, accélérations brutales, moments de pure fragilité… tout s’enchaînait avec une fluidité impressionnante.
La chanteuse Adrienne Cowan a livré une performance stupéfiante de maîtrise technique et expressive, passant d’une douceur cristalline à une intensité extrême sans jamais perdre le contrôle.
Le public, désormais pleinement conquis, oscillait entre fascination silencieuse et réactions explosives. Le travail technique de la basse de Peter de Reyna (et ses chœurs féroces) et les solos enflammés de Jack Kosto, accompagnés du travail époustouflant du batteur Dylan Gowan derrière la batterie, cochent la catégorie légendaire.
Parmi les moments forts, on compte les explosions frénétiques de « Architect of Creation », le triomphant et aventureux « Every Crest » et « Love’s Souvenir », pour lequel la chanteuse de TULIP, Ashleigh, est revenue sur scène pour la première de deux apparitions afin d’aider Adrienne dans un duo sur scène.
À noter, que Jack Kosto fêtait son anniversaire et oui, il a eu droit à un « happy bonne fête » chantonné en franglais par l’ensemble des fans réunis, soufflage de bougie et gâteau inclus.
Puis est venu le moment attendu par beaucoup : AD INFINITUM en tête d’affiche. Dès leur entrée, la salle entière s’est embrasée. Leur performance fut la plus directe, la plus fédératrice; de celle qui transforme l’énergie accumulée en véritable déferlement collectif. Les orchestrations massives, les refrains puissants et la présence scénique charismatique de Melissa Bonny ont immédiatement créé une communion avec le public.
Chaque morceau semblait plus grand que le précédent. La précision du groupe, combinée à une intensité émotionnelle constante, a porté le spectacle vers une finale triomphale. Adrian Thessenvitz (guitare), Korbinian Benedict (basse) et même le batteur Niklas Müller s’alignaient parfaitement avec Melissa en une synergie parfaite.
Cet alignement des trois groupes démontre qu’ils semblent vraiment s’apprécier entre eux. Du côté de la setlist, AD INFINITUM inclus beaucoup de morceaux du dernier album Abyss qui, rappelons-le, ciblant plus l’aspect moderne du metal, se détachent presque entièrement de l’étiquette symphonique que le groupe portait depuis sa création.
Ce qui frappe surtout, c’est la cohérence de la soirée. Trois univers différents, mais une progression parfaitement construite : immersion, expansion, explosion. Rarement une tournée aura offert une expérience aussi complète, à la fois émotionnelle, sonore et physique.
Une soirée marquante pour des bands menés par des femmes et sans doute l’un des spectacles metal les plus captivants de l’année. L’accueil enthousiaste évident de ce soir confirme l’intérêt croissant pour les formes hybrides du metal moderne. Une soirée où intensité, virtuosité et atmosphère se rencontrent pour célébrer toute la richesse du metal.

The international metal scene is making a stop in Canada with one of the most memorable tours of the year. Bringing together AD INFINITUM (Suisse), SEVEN SPIRES (USA) and TULIP (Canada), this event features some of the most striking female voices and sounds in metal today, promising an evening of rare intensity, where symphonic power, progressive virtuosity, and dark atmospheres come together on the same stage.
In several cities, including in Quebec, the Into the Abyss tour takes on special significance; the local scene, already renowned for its openness to various metal styles, provides fertile ground for this artistic encounter. As soon as the doors opened, the promise of an extraordinary sold-out evening was in the air. A compact crowd, dressed in black, buzzed with anticipation in front of the stage, still shrouded in darkness. This tour featuring TULIP, SEVEN SPIRES, and AD INFINITUM was already promising thanks to their notoriety, but on stage, the experience proved to be even more intense than expected.
The band TULIP, less well known in Quebec City, kicked off the evening with an immersive, almost hypnotic performance. Their dense, atmospheric sound literally enveloped the room, creating palpable tension from the very first bars. The singer, Ashleigh Semkiw, magnetic and grounded, seemed to channel a visceral inner energy. The audience, initially attentive and silent, gradually let themselves be drawn in by the quartet’s deep sound texture. It was a slow but powerful introduction, like a dramatic build-up before an explosion. The luminous Ashleigh Semkiw, guitarist Colin Parrish, Ryan Claxton on drums, and bassist Cody Casillas had excellent chemistry on stage and brought an energy that was directly transmitted to the audience, finally enthralled.
With SEVEN SPIRES, the concert took on a whole new dimension. Where TULIP sets the stage, SEVEN SPIRES transforms it. Their set was a veritable whirlwind of emotion. Grand symphonic passages, sudden accelerations, moments of pure fragility… everything flowed together with impressive grace. Singer Adrienne Cowan delivered a stunning performance of technical and expressive mastery, moving from crystalline softness to extreme intensity without ever losing control. The audience, now completely won over, oscillated between silent fascination and explosive reactions. Peter de Reyna’s technical bass work (and fierce backing vocals) and Jack Kosto’s fiery solos, accompanied by drummer Dylan Gowan’s breathtaking work behind the kit, were nothing short of legendary. Highlights included the frenetic explosions of “Architect of Creation,” the triumphant and adventurous “Every Crest,” and “Love’s Souvenir,” for which TULIP singer Ashleigh came back for the first of two appearances to sing a duet with Adrienne. Also of note – it was Jack Kosto’s birthday, and yes, he was treated to a “happy birthday” sung in Franglais by all the fans gathered, complete with candle blowing and cake.
Then came the moment many had been waiting for: headliner AD INFINITUM. As soon as they took the stage, the entire venue erupted. Their performance was the most direct, the most unifying; the kind that transforms accumulated energy into a true collective outburst. The massive orchestrations, powerful choruses, and charismatic stage presence of Melissa Bonny immediately created a connection with the audience. Each song seemed bigger than the last. The band’s precision, combined with constant emotional intensity, carried the show to a triumphant finale. Adrian Thessenvitz (guitar), Korbinian Benedict (bass), and even drummer Niklas Müller were perfectly in sync with Melissa in perfect synergy. This lineup of bands showed that they really seem to appreciate each other. As for the setlist, AD INFINITUM included many songs from their latest album, Abyss, which, let’s not forget, focuses more on the modern aspect of metal and almost entirely breaks away from the symphonic label they have carried since the band’s creation.
What is most striking is the cohesiveness of the evening. Three different worlds, but a perfectly constructed progression: immersion, expansion, explosion. Rarely has a tour offered such a complete experience, both emotional, sonic, and physical.
A memorable evening for bands led by women, and undoubtedly one of the most captivating metal shows of the year. Tonight’s enthusiastic reception confirmed the growing interest in hybrid forms of modern metal. An evening where intensity, virtuosity, and atmosphere come together to celebrate the richness of metal.
