SILVERSTEIN + BIGWIG + SUDDEN WAVES + PEER PRESSURE + W.A.G. | CAMP D’ETE 123 PUNK | AGORA DU PORT QUEBEC | 08.07.2026

L’été est arrivé et on le sent bien. C’est ce mercredi dernier qu’a eu lieu après une journée chaude au travail, le début du camp d’été 123 punk présenté par nul autre que Rej Laplanche et Karl-Emmanuel Picard, à l’Agora de Québec, en collaboration avec Exoshop. La température est de notre côté : pas de pluie à l’horizon, seulement un soleil tapant et un ciel dégagé.

C’est après notre journée de travail que nous nous sommes dirigés vers le site malgré notre léger retard. La soirée débutait à 17h et le premier groupe montait sur scène à 17h45. Malheureusement, nous n’avons pas pu assister à la performance de W.A.G., qui ouvrait la soirée.

PEER PRESSURE
Nous débutons la soirée en force avec ce quatuor au style hardcore, un mélange de métal lourd à l’attitude punk, composé d’un front féminin : Victoria Mladenovski! Son conjoint, Michael Landry, d’ailleurs chanteur du groupe FEELS LIKE HOME, a pris la place à la basse récemment.

Toujours plaisant de voir ce groupe en spectacle, qui donne toujours tout ce qu’il a. On a eu droit à une invitée spéciale, Sophie Coté qui a pris place au micro le temps d’une chanson en duo avec la chanteuse principale.

Belle performance de la part de ce groupe d’ici! Malgré le peu de gens arrivés sur le site, on a eu droit à quelques mosh pits et circle pits.

SUDDEN WAVES
On a un changeover un peu plus long que prévu en raison de problèmes techniques. En attendant, on a Rej Laplanche pour nous animer et nous parler de son projet 123 Punk. On voit les gens arriver peu à peu, toujours pas de foule massive en vue.

Belle énergie summertime mais féroce. Un mélange de pop-punk et de métalcore à la A DAY TO REMEMBER. On peu reconnaitre Miguel Lepage à la basse, anciennement bassiste du groupe OBEY THE BRAVE.

Malgré le léger retard dû aux problèmes techniques, ils donnent une performance tight et envoûtante. On a envie de bouncer avec eux.

BIGWIG
Le groupe entre en scène après une présentation faite par Rej, disant que le groupe est passé sur cette scène il y a 21 ans. Les gars ont l’air cool et nonchalants. Le chanteur porte un foulard sur la tête sous une casquette et des lunettes fumées. Un look qui me rappelle beaucoup M. Shadows, du groupe AVENGED SEVENFOLD (A7X), mais sans les tatouages.

On aperçoit aussi le talentueux batteur Guillaume Fortin, également membre du groupe TEN FOOT POLE.

Entre les chansons, ils s’accordent plusieurs fois sans couper le son de l’accordeur. En accordant leurs guitares, le chanteur glisse quelques mots sur Trump avant de conclure avec un «Make America Canadian». Belle performance en soi pour le peu de gens arrivés. Malgré tout, tout va bien.  

SILVERSTEIN
Un groupe emo/metalcore/hardcore de ma jeunesse, toujours aussi agréable à voir en spectacle. On peut les voir assez régulièrement à Québec, car en trois ans, je crois les avoir vus environ trois fois.

Pas de pluie à l’horizon, le soleil est couché, mais l’Agora n’est malheureusement pas remplie comme on l’aurait souhaité, malgré toute la publicité qui a été faite pour ce spectacle. Dommage pour ceux qui n’y étaient pas, car c’était un très bon show!

Ils enchaînent les classiques de leur premier album et mentionnent aussi qu’ils ont joué sur cette même scène il y a 21 ans. Ils ont un grand amour pour le Québec!

Des vieux hits comme des plus récents, je crois que tout le monde connaissait les chansons. Le chanteur dit qu’il a en ce moment les cheveux les plus longs qu’il ait eus de sa vie.

Durant My Heroine, comme à l’habitude, ils s’arrêtent au dernier refrain et font chanter la foule avec eux. Un beau moment qu’on a pu partager tous ensemble, en chantant les paroles avec notre cœur d’adolescent!

La soirée à l’Agora se termine tôt pour un soir de semaine, mais cela n’empêche pas les plus aventureux d’entre nous de continuer la fête en se dirigeant à l’Anti bar & spectacles pour l’after party, présentant sur scène GET OVER IT et BRING THE LIGHT.

Summer is here, and you can really feel it. Last Wednesday, after a hot day at work, the 123 Punk summer camp kicked off at the Agora in Québec City, hosted by none other than Rej Laplanche and Karl-Emmanuel Picard, in collaboration with Exoshop. The weather was on our side: no rain in sight, just bright sunshine and clear sky.

After work, we headed to the venue, even though we were running a little late. The evening started at 5 p.m., and the first band took the stage at 5:45 p.m. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to catch WAG’s performance, which kicked off the evening.

PEER PRESSURE
We’re starting the evening strongly with this hardcore quartet—a mix of heavy metal and punk, fronted by Victoria Mladenovski! Her partner, Michael Landry, who is also the singer for the band Feels Like Home, recently took over on bass. It’s always a pleasure to see this band perform, they always give it everything they’ve got. We were treated to a special guest, Sophie Coté, who took the mic for a duet with the lead singer. A great performance from this local band! Despite the small crowd that had gathered at the venue, we still saw a few mosh pits and circle pits.

SUDDEN WAVES
We’re having a slightly longer changeover than expected due to technical issues. In the meantime, Rej Laplanche is here to entertain us and talk about his project, 123 Punk. We’re seeing people gradually arrive, but still no massive crowd in sight.

Great summer energy, but intense. A mix of pop-punk and metalcore in the style of A Day To Remember. You can spot Miguel Lepage on bass, former bassist for the band Obey the Brave.

Despite the slight delay caused by technical issues, they deliver a tight and captivating performance. You want to bounce along with them.

BIGWIG
The band takes the stage after an introduction by Rej, who mentions that they played on this stage 21 years ago. The guys look cool and laid-back. The singer is wearing a scarf on his head under a cap and sunglasses. It’s a look that really reminds me of M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold (A7X), but without the tattoos. We also catch a glimpse of the talented drummer Guillaume Fortin, who is also a member of the band Ten Foot Pole. Between songs, they tune their instruments several times without muting the tuner. While tuning his guitar, the singer says a few words about Trump before wrapping up with “Make America Canadian.” It’s a great performance in its own way, given the small crowd that showed up. Still, everything’s going well.  

SILVERSTEIN
An emo/metalcore/hardcore band from my youth, still just as fun to see live. You can catch them quite regularly in Quebec city, since I think I’ve seen them about three times in the last three years.

No rain in sight, the sun has set, but unfortunately the Agora isn’t as packed as we’d have liked, despite all the promotional hype for this show. Too bad for those who weren’t there, because it was a great show!

They played one classic after another from their first album and also mentioned that they’d performed on this very same stage 21 years ago. They have a deep love for Quebec!

From their old hits to their more recent ones, I think everyone knew every song. The singer said that his hair is currently the longest it’s ever been in his life.

During “My Heroine,” as usual, they stopped at the last chorus and had the crowd sing along with them. It was a beautiful moment we were all able to share together, singing the lyrics with our teenage hearts!

The evening at the Agora ended early for a weeknight, but that didn’t stop the more adventurous of us from continuing the party by heading to the Anti Bar & Spectacles for the after-party, featuring Get Over It and Bring the Light on stage.
