De ce qui était censé être une nuit bruyante de metalcore a abouti à une soirée d’humanité agressive. Ce soir de semaine a vu un alignement de 4 groupes de sonorités diverses, mais qui à la base sont tous du même genre. Cet arrêt reflète bien le succès du groupe BURY TOMORROW qui nous rend visite au Théâtre Fairmont dans leur première tournée en tant que tête d’affiche. 

SIAMESE
Pour ouvrir ce spectacle mémorable, nous avons eu le privilège d’accueillir SIAMESE du Danemark. Avec une présence musicale si mélodique et énergique, nous ne pouvions pas demander un meilleur départ. Malgré une scène encombrée d’instruments, ils ont quand même trouvé des moyens de sauter et de se déplacer devant une foule qui s’agrandissait rapidement.

C’est sur une chimie naturelle entre les membres du groupe, que le chanteur Benjamin Julian de DAZE OF JUNEa soutenu le groupe alors que Mirza Radonjica, chanteur original de la formation, ne pouvant être présent car il attend son premier enfant. AFTERLIFE
Puis AFTERLIFE a pris la scène et nous a honorés avec leur version d’un « metalcore » infusé de ce que je décrirais comme du «nu-metal ». Ce mélange diversifié a maintenu l’énergie de la salle qui était déjà élevée.

Avec une première sortie d’album en 2019, ce groupe floridien a joué à une vitesse telle un un moteur puissant et bien huilé. Pour plus information sur cette belle découverte : afterlifeofficial.com 

HOLLOW FRONT
Ces « Midwest Metalcore » boys (de leur propre définition) ont joué leurs chansons les plus lourdes dans une salle bondée. D’un style se rapprochant du dernier groupe, HOLLOW FRONT nous envoie une sonorité plus classique comme la basse forte, les voix hostiles et les « breakdowns » complémentaires.

Le leader Tyler Tate n’a eu aucun problème à diriger la foule dans les « mosh pits ». Ce qui a eu pour effet d’élever la chaleur dans un espace où il faisait déjà chaud. Donnez-leur un « shout out » sur hollowfrontmerch.com

BURY TOMORROW
Enfin, le retour anticipé de bury tomorrow après 13 ans d’abstinence de tournée nord-américaine. Après un crescendo de son lourd, tout le monde était prêt à accueillir ces « metalheads » britanniques. En commençant dur avec Bolt Cutter, ils ont enchaîner 13 titres dans un temps qui a semblé trop court.

Ce qui inclut aussi une bonne interprétation de Heretics mettant en vedette Tyler Levenson, qui s’est permis de quitter la scène en « bodysurfing ». Alimentés par l’énergie des fans, les membres du groupe semblaient tout donner et ils pouvaient à peine cacher leur sourire derrière le plus profond des grognements. 

C’est après cette incoyable introduction de nouveaux artistes d’une grande musicalité, que partir du Théâtre Fairmont  n’a pas été facile, surtout quand autant d’humanité et cette belle communauté sont mises de l’avant.

Of what was supposed to be a loud night of metalcore resulted in an evening of aggressive humanity. This Weeknight saw a lined up of 4 diverse sounding bands within this genre. This stop reflects the success of the band BURY TOMORROW, who visit us at the Fairmont Theatre in their first tour as a headliner. 

SIAMESE
To open this special show, we had the privilege to welcome Siamese from Denmark. With its melodic and energetic presence, we couldn’t ask for a better start. With a stuffed stage, they kept finding ways to jump and move in front of a thickening crowd. Despite the natural chemistry between the band members, singer Benjamin Julian from Daze of June supported the band while original vocalist Mirza Radonjica who is expecting his first child, could not attend this tour. AFTERLIFE
Then AFTERLIFE took the stage and graced us with their version of metalcore infused, with what I would call, nu-metal. This diverse mix kept the energy of the attendance, that was still quite high. With a first album release in 2019, this Floridian band played like a fast-pace machine beyond their young run. For more info on this finding: afterlifeofficial.com

HOLLOW FRONT
This self-called Midwest Metalcore showed their heavier sound to the packed venue. With channelling a more classical metalcore like loud bass, harsh vocals and the complementary breakdowns. Frontman Tyler Tate had no problem directing the crowd into mosh pits. And seemed to rise the heat to an already hot space. Give them a shoutout on hollowfrontmerch.com

BURY TOMORROW
Finally, the anticipated return after 13 years of North American tour abstinence. After the very well crescendo of heaviness before them, everyone was ready to welcome these British metalheads.  Starting hard with Bolt cutter, they ran through the 13 songs set in a time that seemed to fly by too fast. Including a good rendition of Heretics featuring Tyler Levenson who left the stage body surfing. Fuelled by the energy of the fans, band members seemed to give it all, and they could barely hide their smile behind the deepest of growls. 

After such an incredible introduction of new artists and great musicianship, leaving was not easy, especially when this much humanity and community support are on display.
