DIE ON + GSEE | THÉÂTRE GILLES-VIGNEAULT | 06.03.2026

Le 6 mars 2026, la salle Anthony-Lessard du Théâtre Gilles-Vigneault a gravité dans la sphère du « rap queb » : DIE-ON (Christian Dionne) nous a ouvert les portes de son monde pour nous partager son histoire. La salle affichait complet et rassemblait un public de tous âges. L’attente était palpable pour les deux rappeurs québécois, et l’excitation dans la foule témoignait de l’importance de la soirée.

GSEE, ENTRE MIROIR SOCIAL ET PLANÈTE INTÉRIEURE
Le rappeur a lancé la soirée en nous présentent son nouveau EP Drôle de planète parue en février 2026. Il aborde sa vision du miroir que la société nous tend, en nous incitant à nous conformer à des cases préétablies et à projeter une image qui n’est pas toujours la nôtre, par crainte du rejet.

GSEE nous a livré une prestation intense et introspective, transportant le public dans son univers et suscitant une réflexion sur les enjeux et défis liés à la différence, ainsi que sur l’impact du regard extérieur, qui peut parfois pousser l’être humain à se replier sur sa propre planète.

LA MUSIQUE COMME CONFESSION 
Ensuite, DIE-ON a lancé la soirée avec « Descente aux enfers », et dès les premières notes, la salle s’est embrasée. Il a ensuite enchaîné avec « Attrape-moi si tu peux », « Pas mort encore », « Temps sur pause », gardant le public captivé du début à la fin. Mais, derrière ce magnifique sourire se cache l’histoire d’un homme profondément marqué par la vie, qui réussit à transformer son expérience personnelle en un voyage musical intime à travers son propre parcours. Le spectacle est construit sous forme de récit, chaque chanson agit comme un chapitre, révélant peu à peu le parcours marqué par les épreuves et son cheminement vers la reconstruction et la résilience. 

DU CHAOS À LA RÉSILIENCE
Depuis son plus jeune âge, DIE-ON (Christian Dionne) refuse qu’on lui dicte quoi faire ou qui devenir. Son parcours musical débute avec le collectif 187 – Homicid Verbal, puis FaceKché, avant de se lancer en solo avec l’album J’ai aimé, j’ai souffert maintenant je hais. Sa vie prend un autre tournant lorsqu’il part pour la Colombie et apprend qu’il est visé par un mandat d’arrêt pour trafic de stupéfiants, gangstérisme et complot. Pendant cinq ans, il vit en cavale à travers la Colombie, une période marquée par la survie, d’autodestruction et énormément de violence. Après ces années de cavale, épuisé Christian décide de se livrer aux autorités. Aujourd’hui, DIE-ON combine musique et engagement social, travaillant comme intervenant à la Maison Stéphane Fallu et animant des ateliers d’écriture pour des jeunes ayant vécu des chemins difficiles. 

Ses albums Mauvais Ange et Phénix retracent son parcours avec sincérité, explorant la chute, la résilience et la renaissance. Au cœur de ces œuvres, se révèle une vulnérabilité qui me touche beaucoup que je trouve très touchante, sa capacité à se montrer authentique, avec ses blessures et ses doutes, crée un lien profond avec son public. En transformant sa douleur en art, DIE-ON illustre la beauté de la vérité, offrant à chacun une lumière dans les épreuves et un exemple inspirant de résilience.

On March 6th, 2026, the Anthony-Lessard Hall at the Théâtre Gilles-Vigneault was buzzing with “Quebecois Rap” excitement as DIE-ON (Christian Dionne) opened the doors to his world and shared his story with us. The hall was packed with an audience of all ages. The anticipation for the two Quebec rappers was palpable, and the excitement in the crowd reflected the importance of the evening.

GSEE, BETWEEN SOCIAL MIRROR AND INNER PLANET
The rapper kicked off the evening by presenting his new EP, Drôle de planète, released in February 2026. He addresses his vision of the mirror that society holds up to us, encouraging us to fit into pre-established boxes and project an image that is not always our own, for fear of rejection. GSEE gave an intense and introspective performance, transporting the audience into his world and prompting reflection on the issues and challenges associated with difference, as well as the impact of outside perceptions, which can sometimes cause human beings to retreat into their own world.

MUSIC AS A CONFESSION
DIE-ON kicked off the evening with « Descente aux enfers », and from the very first notes, the room was ablaze. He then followed up with « Attrape-moi si tu peux », « Pas mort encore », and « Temps sur pause », keeping the audience captivated from start to finish. But, behind that magnificent smile lies the story of a man deeply marked by life, who has managed to transform his personal experience into an intimate musical journey through his own life. The show is structured as a story, with each song acting as a chapter, gradually revealing a life marked by trials and tribulations, and his journey toward reconstruction and resilience. 

FROM CHAOS TO RESILIENCE
From a young age, DIE-ON (Christian Dionne) refused to be told what to do or who to become. His musical journey began with the collective 187 Homicid Verbal, then FaceKché, before launching his solo career with the album J’ai aimé, j’ai souffert maintenant je hais. His life took another turn when he left for Colombia and learned that he was under an arrest warrant for drug trafficking, gangsterism, and conspiracy. For five years, he was on the run throughout Colombia, a period marked by survival, self-destruction, and enormous violence. After these years on the run, an exhausted Christian decided to turn himself in to the authorities. Today, DIE-ON combines music and social activism, working as a counselor at the Maison Stéphane Fallu and leading writing workshops for young people who have had difficult lives.

His albums Mauvais Ange and Phénix recount his journey with sincerity, exploring downfall, resilience, and rebirth. At the heart of these works is a vulnerability that I find very moving. His ability to be authentic, with his wounds and doubts, creates a deep connection with his audience. By transforming his pain into art, DIE-ON illustrates the beauty of truth, offering everyone a light in times of trial and an inspiring example of resilience.
