TOURNÉE 123 PUNK BANGER’S CLUB + TAXI GIRLS + DROP IT FIRST + XLARGE | L’ANTI BAR ET SPECTACLES | 02.04.2026

Comment bien finir la semaine? En se dirigeant à L’Anti pour le lancement de la tournée 123 Punk, une tournée qu’on attendait avec enthousiasme! Organisée par Rej Laplanche et Karl-Emmanuel Picard, la tournée composée de 28 bands locaux parcourt le Québec afin de faire rayonner la scène locale et émergente.

Sans surprise, la soirée affichait complet et rassemblait plusieurs nostalgiques de l’époque de MusiquePlus. C’est si beau de voir le soutien envers notre scène locale, et l’esprit de communauté du punk rock qui se fait vraiment ressentir tout au long de la soirée.

Pour entamer la tournée, on a eu droit à des performances marquantes de BANGER’S CLUB, TAXI GIRLS, DROP IT FIRST et XLARGE.

BANGER’S CLUB ouvre la soirée et, par le fait même, la tournée. Ils le font à merveille!
Déjà, il faut noter que la salle est bien remplie avant même le début de leur set. On pourrait dire qu’ils ont bien réchauffé la foule, mais ils ont fait bien plus que ça : nous avons droit à un véritable party, fidèle à l’énergie de leurs chansons. Leur présence scénique est contagieuse, et ils savent parfaitement la transmettre au public. 

Le groupe de « drunk rock », comme l’affiche leur bannière, nous présente un set majoritairement composé de chansons originales, mélangées à quelques reprises interprétées avec talent et assurance, notamment « Punk Rock And Roll » ou Cyco Vision (Suicidal Tendencies).

Ils terminent avec leur chanson « Thanks for Coming », avant de laisser place à TAXI GIRLS.

Je suis tombée en amour avec TAXI GIRLS au Festivoix 2025. J’étais donc ravie de les voir figurer parmi les artistes de la soirée. En plus, ça donne l’impression d’une redécouverte : contexte différent, spectacle en salle… 

Dès qu’elles arrivent sur scène, leur style et leur énergie s’imposent naturellement. Elles ouvrent avec « Sunshine », et il n’en faut pas plus pour que la foule se mette à bouger et à danser.

Une chose qui ressort particulièrement chez TAXI GIRLS, au-delà de leur présence scénique et de leur complicité évidente, ce sont leurs harmonies vocales. Ce n’est pas toujours simple d’harmoniser quatre voix différentes en même temps, et pourtant, elles le font avec aisance. Chacune y trouve sa place, et l’ensemble donne un résultat à la fois riche et percutant. On sent d’ailleurs que le groupe est déjà bien connu du public : plusieurs chantent les paroles avec elles sans retenue. 

Leur performance se termine un peu abruptement. Même si j’en aurais pris plus, il reste deux groupes à suivre et la suite s’annonce prometteuse.

Il est maintenant temps pour Rej de présenter le prochain groupe à monter sur scène : DROP IT FIRST. Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas, le groupe, actif depuis 2023, est un supergroupe composé de membres de OUR DARKEST DAYS, GO GREAT GUNS et PERSISTENCE. 

Leur fusion et l’expérience propre de chacun donnent un projet unique, avec un son bien à eux, largement apprécié par le public. On sent d’ailleurs l’enthousiasme grandissant de la foule pour le groupe qui s’apprête à monter sur scène. 

L’énergie, déjà présente dans la salle, monte d’un cran : moshpits, crowd surfing et stage diving sont au rendez-vous, fidèle à l’ambiance  d’un show de punk rock! Il faut dire qu’avec la musique et l’énergie de DROP IT FIRST, il est difficile de rester immobile.

On a affaire à des musiciens talentueux possédant une expérience de scène marquante. Ils nous présentent plusieurs morceaux de leur album Fundamentals, sorti en 2025, et nous offrent même une reprise surprise de « Black Masks & Gasoline » de RISE AGAINST. 

Après une performance intense, ils terminent avec « Hold On » avant céder la scène à XLARGE. Encore une fois, on sent que la foule en aurait pris plus, mais nous sommes prêts pour la suite.

Le groupe, originaire de Rimouski, monte sur scène pour clore la soirée. Le timing est parfait: on souligne, en ce jour de lancement de la tournée 123 punk, le 30e anniversaire de leur premier album Living Large. Malgré l’heure qui avance, l’engouement de la foule ne diminue pas. L’énergie est toujours bien présente pour accueillir le groupe. 

On a droit à une autre performance intense, mélangeant des beats rapides et rythmiques à des breaks plus ambiants. On voit qu’ils ont du plaisir sur scène et savent le partager avec la foule, qui leur donne tout ce qui lui reste d’énergie. 

Ils nous présentent deux nouvelles chansons « Rendez-vous » et « Cup Of Sorrows », à travers leurs morceaux déjà bien ancrés. On voyage à travers les années avec eux, revivant l’évolution du groupe. Nous avons même droit à une apparition spéciale de Rej Laplanche sur scène pour chanter « Sunglasses » avec le groupe. À ce qu’on dit, c’est la tradition! 

Pour finir, je tiens à remercier Rej Laplanche et Karl-Emmanuel Picard pour l’organisation de cette tournée. La scène locale mérite d’être mise de l’avant, et c’est par des initiatives comme celle-ci qu’on y arrive. 

Je ne le dirai jamais assez : on a énormément de talent au Québec et les groupes qui ont performé ce soir nous l’ont encore prouvé. Nous avons une belle communauté punk rock à Québec et c’est beau de voir ce soutien envers nos groupes. 

On parle déjà de 28 groupes présentés dans le cadre de la tournée, mais gardez l’oeil ouvert. Ce soir, on a vu et revu de quoi notre scène est capable. La scène locale n’est pas moribonde : elle continue de briller et il existe encore tout plein de bands locaux qui méritent d’être découverts.

What’s the best way to end the week? By heading to L’Anti for the kickoff of the 123 Punk tour—a tour we’ve been eagerly awaiting! Organized by Rej Laplanche and Karl-Emmanuel Picard, the tour features 28 local bands and travels across Quebec to showcase the local and emerging music scene.

Unsurprisingly, tonight’s show issold out, drawing a crowd of people nostalgic for the MusiquePlus era. It’s so wonderful to see the support for our local scene, and the punk rock community spirit was truly palpable throughout the evening.

To kick off the tour, we were treated to impressive performances by BANGER’S CLUB, TAXI GIRLS, DROP IT FIRST and XLARGE.

It’s worth pointing out that the venue is already packed before their set even begins. You could say they really warmed up the crowd, but they did much more than that: we’re treated to a full-blown party, true to the energy of their songs. Their stage presence is infectious, and they know exactly how to convey it to the audience. 

The “drunk rock” band, as per their banner, presents a set of mainly original songs, mixed with a few covers performed with talent and confidence, such as “Punk Rock And Roll” or Cyco Vision (Suicidal Tendencies). Finally, they wrap up with their song “Thanks for Coming,” before handing the stage over to TAXI GIRLS.

I fell in love with the TAXI GIRLS at Festivoix 2025. I was thrilled to see them listed among the evening’s performers. Plus, it feels like a rediscovery: a different environment, an indoor show… 

As soon as they hit the stage, their style and energy take over. They open with “Sunshine,” and that’s all it takes for the crowd to start moving and dancing.

One thing that really stands out about TAXI GIRLS, beyond their stage presence and obvious chemistry, is their vocal harmonies. It’s not always easy to harmonize four different voices at the same time, and yet they do it with ease. Each member finds their place, and the result is both rich and powerful. You can tell the band is already well-known to the audience: many are singing along with them without hesitation. 

Their performance ends a bit abruptly. Even though I could have had more, there are still two bands to perform, and the rest of the lineup looks promising.

It’s now time for Rej to introduce the next band to hit the stage: DROP IT FIRST. For those who aren’t familiar with them, the band—active since 2023—is a supergroup made up of members from OUR DARKEST DAYS, GO GREAT GUNS, and PERSISTENCE. 

Their fusion and each member’s unique experience create a one-of-a-kind project with a sound all their own, widely appreciated by the audience. You can really feel the crowd’s growing excitement for the band as they prepare to take the stage. 

The energy, already palpable in the venue, kicks up a notch: moshpits, crowd surfing, and stage diving are in full swing, true to the vibe of a punk rock show! It must be said that with DROP IT FIRST’s music and energy, it’s hard to stay still.

We’re dealing with talented musicians with impressive stage experience. They perform several tracks from their 2025 album Fundamentals and even treat us to a surprise cover of “Black Masks & Gasoline” by RISE AGAINST. 

After an intense performance, they close with “Hold On” before handing the stage over to XLARGE. Once again, you can tell the crowd could have had more, but we’re ready for what’s next.

XLARGE, based in Rimouski, takes the stage to close out the evening. The timing is perfect: on this opening night of the 123 Punk tour, they’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album, “Living Large.” 

Despite the late hour, the crowd’s enthusiasm shows no signs of slowing down. The energy is still high as they welcome the band. 

We’re treated to another intense performance, blending fast, rhythmic beats with more ambient breaks. You can tell they’re having fun on stage and know how to share it with the crowd, who give them every last ounce of their energy. 

They present two new songs, “Rendez-vous” and “Cup Of Sorrows,” alongside their already well-known tracks. We take a journey through the years with them, reliving the band’s evolution. Rej Laplanche even makes a special appearance and joins the band on stage to sing “Sunglasses.” Rumor has it, it’s a tradition! 

In the end, I’d like to express my gratitude to Rej Laplanche and Karl-Emmanuel Picard for organizing this tour. The local scene deserves to be showcased, and it’s through initiatives like this that we make it happen. 

I can’t say it enough: we have a ton of talent in Quebec, and the bands that performed tonight proved it once again. We have a great punk rock community in Quebec City, and it’s wonderful to see this support for our bands. 

Right now, we’re already talking about 28 bands featured on the tour, but keep your eyes peeled. Tonight, we saw time and again what our scene is capable of. The local scene isn’t dead: it continues to shine, and there are still plenty of local bands out there that deserve to be discovered.
