BLACK VEIL BRIDES + FROM ASHES TO NEW + TX2 + AS DECEMBER FALLS | MTELUS (MTL) | 26.05.2026

Il fait beau, il fait chaud; sortez vos maillots ? Ou dans ce cas-ci, vos chandails de BLACK VEIL BRIDES, FROM ASHES TO NEW, TX2* ou AS DECEMBER FALLS* pour aller voir un show un mardi soir au MTELUS. 

C’est AS DECEMBER FALLS qui ouvrent le bal avec une énergie débordante. Première tournée en Amérique du Nord pour eux. Ils n’ont pas à envier personne; ils réchauffent la place et ils sont attentifs à la foule. Vient ensuite TX2 qui poursuivent et qui commencent en force avec le chanteur qui joint le pit à la première occasion, rien de moins. On a aussi eu droit à des chansons tout droit sorties de leur collaboration avec BLACK VEIL BRIDES et une autre avec ICE NINE KILLS.

FROM ASHES TO NEW n’ont pas laissé l’absence de leur rappeur ralentir la cadence. Il était possible de voir la nervosité du chanteur de devoir couvrir une partie qu’il n’est pas habitué à faire, mais il a donné une super performance. Il a même été accompagné de son guitariste lors d’une chanson. 

Quant à BLACK VEIL BRIDES ils ont commencé avec Knives and Pens pour casser la glace. Énergie à 110% dans la salle, ils continuent avec Bleeders, un single récent et puis, retour en 2011 avec Coffin. La setlist complète est une danse entre classiques et nouveautés. Tout pour faire plaisir aux fans de longues dates, faire découvrir des pépites aux derniers joints et une belle balance des deux pour faire profiter tout le monde d’une belle soirée. 

Andy Biersack, fidèle à lui-même, se promène de long en large de la scène sans arrêt, sans perdre son souffle. Entre deux chansons, une blague par ci, par là. Même que quelqu’un au balcon lui a demandé si As December Falls avaient déjà performé et il a dû lui confirmer en riant que malheureusement, c’était le premier band de la soirée et qu’il ne serait pas en mesure de reculer dans le temps, ni de chanter leurs chansons. Il nous a aussi fait un petit retour down memory lane et a parlé de leur premier show à Montréal au Club Soda en 2011. 

Pour ma part, premier show de BLACK VEIL BRIDES, je les écoute depuis le secondaire et je n’ai pas été déçu, au contraire. Je me demande encore comment Andy fait pour avoir autant d’énergie. Ses screams n’ont pas été affectés par le temps ou par son marathon sur scène. Les vieilles chansons comme les plus récentes étaient excellentes et bien exécutées. Leur nouvel album, Vindicate, plus heavy et intense que les derniers, est venu me rechercher et je suis retombée dans ma phase emo. Je n’ai pas pu m’empêcher de réécouter leurs chansons en boucle depuis le 8 mai. Je pense vraiment que pour quelqu’un qui découvre BLACK VEIL BRIDES ou pour un fan de longue date, c’était un show parfait avec une setlist qui a su jongler avec le présent et le passé. J’ai aussi adoré les premières parties. Ils se complétaient bien et leurs performances étaient impeccables. De fil en aiguille, ils ont élevé le public pour BVB sans perdre leur identité et tout en faisant leur marque.

Pour moi, la soirée du 26 mai est juste une cerise sur le sundae. Beaux moments, bonne musique et c’était en plus ma première couverture de show à Montréal pour CRM. Quoi demander de mieux que pouvoir assister au spectacle d’un groupe qui a marqué son adolescence, prendre quelques photos et écrire quelques lignes pour donner le goût aux autres de se joindre à nous la prochaine fois qu’ils sont en ville ! Merci! *Malheureusement nous n’avions pas l’autorisation de photographier ces prestations.

The weather’s nice and warm—time to break out your swimsuits? Or, in this case, your BLACK VEIL BRIDES, FROM ASHES TO NEW, TX2, or AS DECEMBER FALLS T-shirts to catch a show on a Tuesday night at MTELUS. 

AS DECEMBER FALLS kicked things off with boundless energy. It’s their first North American tour. They’ve got nothing to envy; they warmed up the venue and were attentive to the crowd. Next up was TX2, who followed suit and started strong with the singer joining the mosh pit at the first opportunity—nothing less. We were also treated to songs straight from their collaboration with BLACK VEIL BRIDES and another with ICE NINE KILLS. FROM ASHES TO NEW didn’t let the absence of their rapper slow them down. You could see the singer’s nervousness about having to cover a part he isn’t used to doing, but he gave a great performance. He was even joined by his guitarist for one song. 

As for BLACK VEIL BRIDES, they kicked things off with “Knives and Pens” to break the ice. With the energy in the venue at 110%, they followed up with “Bleeders,” a recent single, and then went back to 2011 with “Coffin.” The full setlist was a mix of classics and new material. Everything to please longtime fans, introduce newcomers to hidden gems, and strike a nice balance between the two so everyone could enjoy a great night.

Andy Biersack, true to form, paced back and forth across the stage nonstop, without ever losing his breath. Between songs, he cracked a joke here and there. Someone in the balcony even asked him if As December Falls had already performed, and he had to confirm with a laugh that, unfortunately, they were the first band of the night and that he wouldn’t be able to go back in time or sing their songs. He also took us on a little trip down memory lane and talked about their first show in Montreal at Club Soda in 2011. 

As for me, this was my first BLACK VEIL BRIDES show—I’ve been listening to them since high school, and I wasn’t disappointed, quite the opposite. I still wonder how Andy manages to have so much energy. His screams weren’t affected by time or his marathon on stage. Both the old songs and the newer ones were excellent and well-executed. Their new album, Vindicate—heavier and more intense than their previous ones—really spoke to me, and I’ve fallen back into my emo phase. I haven’t been able to stop listening to their songs on repeat since May 8. I truly believe that for someone discovering BLACK VEIL BRIDES or for a longtime fan, it was a perfect show with a setlist that skillfully balanced the present and the past. I also loved the opening acts. They complemented each other well, and their performances were flawless.One thing led to another, and they built up the audience for BVB without losing their identity, all while making their mark.

For me, the evening of May 26 was just the icing on the cake. Great times, great music, and it was also my first time covering a show in Montreal for CRM. What more could you ask for than to see a band that defined your teenage years, take a few photos, and write a few lines to get others excited about joining us the next time they’re in town! Thanks!
