Je suis de ce type de personne qui ne se confine pas à un genre musical en particulier, mais plutôt à des artistes de toutes sortes. Il existe tellement de musique qu’il est impossible de tout écouter et bien sûr, certains volent sous mon radar. Cependant, il n’est jamais trop tard pour embarquer ! 

Aujourd’hui en est un parfait exemple : lorsque j’ai entendu EVERGREY pour la première fois avec leur pièce Eternal Nocturnal, j’ai vraiment accroché et je voulais en entendre plus de ce « nouveau » groupe. 

Eh bien, j’ai vite appris qu’ils en sont à leur douzième album depuis leur début en 1996. Honte à moi ! J’ai maintenant beaucoup de rattrapage à faire. 

Mais ces mots sont pour ESCAPE THE PHOENIX sortie le 26 février dernier. Connu en tant que métal progressif, la bande de Tom S. Englund nous donne une création solide sur laquelle il a un ton chaleureux et très velouté, chantant des paroles mélancoliques portant le dés*espoir supporté par des mélodies bien élaborées qui vont droit au coeur. Le tout est bien dosé, un gros hug dans une « doudou » métal.

As someone who do not follow genre but rather artists of any kind, so much music goes under my radar. However, I do believe that it’s never too late to discover talent and go on their journey. Today’s a perfect example : when I first heard that 

EVERGREY released a new album and heard the single Eternal Nocturnal, I though who is this « new » band that created this great song. Well, what do I know … I know nothing as it’s their 12th album since 1996.  Shame on me !  I will have a lot of catching up to do. But today it’s about ESCAPE THE PHOENIX , released last February 26th. Define as progressive metal, Tom S. Englund’s band is delivering a solid creation. One where the voice is warm and velvety, singing the melancholy lyrics about hope (lessness) surrounded by crafted melodies that goes straight to your heart. All in a very well dosed metal blanket.
