SUPER ORGY PORNO PARTY, SUPER ORGY PORNO PARTY!! Les PLANETS SMASHERS à L’Anti ce soir!! 

Bon ce ne sera évidemment pas une orgie porno, mais un super party, assurément! C’est inévitable avec ce band. Vous êtes humain? Vous allez aimer les PLANET SMASHERS! Tout le monde a du plaisir dans leurs shows. Leur musique ska, festive et joyeuse, vous entraîne malgré vous et vous fait danser. L’Anti est ma salle préférée, je m’y sens comme chez moi. Un endroit idéal pour y rencontrer des amis, danser, chanter. 

C’est le band de Toronto THE ANTI-QUEENS qui débute la soirée. Le band a une réputation de bêtes de scène! Malgré leur présence dans plusieurs festivals du Québec, au fil des ans, je n’avais jamais eu la chance de les voir performer. La salle est déjà pleine, ce qui est plutôt rare pour une première partie. D’habitude lors des premières parties, je préfère rester en retrait à l’arrière, mais ce soir, le pit m’appelle.  

Le spectacle commence! Pour « Worse Than Death », j’ai instantanément un coup de cœur. Je suis happée par l’émotion. C’est plus fort que moi, je verse presque une larme. Il n’y a rien comme le son des guitares et du drum pour me faire vibrer.

J’oublie tout, problèmes, douleurs, angoisses. Tout ce qui compte, c’est le moment présent. J’aime leur son! Un son varié tirant plus du côté rock que punk, mais avec une énergie brute qui s’approche beaucoup du punk. Les Queens ont le sens du spectacle. Elles savent animer une foule, enflammer un stage. J’ai la chance d’être dans le coin des fans et d’avoir leur fan numéro 1 derrière moi. Il chante en chœur avec elles. Il ne manque pas un mot. Chanson après chanson, sa joie est contagieuse.   

Une prestation de feu. Pas de temps mort, elles enchaînent les chansons avec quelques mots entre elles.  De belles voix, puissantes avec une touche parfaite d’agressivité que j’adore.    

Impressionnant! Elles terminent par « Read My Mind », au grand bonheur de mon voisin qui la demande depuis le début. Excellente performance, je vais définitivement mettre quelques-unes de leurs chansons sur mes playlists en attendant leur prochain spectacle!

THE PLANET SMASHERS
Les doyens de la scène ska québécoise n’ont plus besoin de présentation. Ils font danser et chanter les foules depuis tant d’années. Des musiciens tellement talentueux et sympathiques. Il y a, lors de leur spectacle, une ambiance de fête. On a l’impression de faire partie d’une grande famille. C’est le mot qui me vient à l’esprit lorsque je pense à l’ambiance qui règne à L’Anti en ce moment. 

Dès qu’ils commencent à jouer, la salle devient une grande piste de danse.

On ne se tanne pas de réentendre leurs chansons, qui sont indémodables. Et quel son incroyable! Le gars du son est un génie! On peut profiter de chaque note sans se faire exploser les oreilles. Malheureusement, c’est rapidement le moment du rappel (eh oui ça existe encore). Ils quittent sans avoir joué leurs plus grands hits, on sait donc tous qu’ils vont revenir. Ils gardent les deux meilleures pour la fin « Super Orgy Porno Party » et bien sûr, ma préférée, « Life Of The Party »!

Une superbe soirée qui initie parfaitement mon année de spectacle 2023 où le ska sera à l’honneur.

Well, it won’t be a porn orgy, but it will be a great party, for sure! It’s a given with this band. Are you human? You’ll love THE PLANET SMASHERS! Everyone has fun at their shows. Their ska music, festive and joyful, it pulls you in, you just can’t help it, and it makes you dance. L’Anti is my favorite venue, I feel right at home there. A great place to meet friends, dance, sing. 

Toronto-based THE ANTI-QUEENS start the evening. The band has a reputation of being stage beasts! Despite being at in many festivals in Quebec, over the years, I never had the chance to see them perform. The room is already full, which is quite rare for an opening act. Usually during opening acts, I prefer to stay in the back, but tonight, the pit is calling me. 

The show starts! It’s « Worse Than Death », and I instantly fall in love. I’m caught up in the emotion. I can’t help it, I almost shed a tear. There is nothing like the sound of the guitars and the drums to make me vibrate. I forget everything, problems, pains, anxieties. All that matters is the moment. I love their sound! A diverse sound that is more rock than punk, but with a raw energy that is very close to punk.  They have a sense of showmanship. They know how to entertain a crowd, how to set a stage on fire. I’m lucky enough to be in the fans zone and have their number one fan behind me. He sings in chorus with them. He doesn’t miss a word. Song after song, his joy is contagious.   

An explosive performance. No breathers – the women plays on song after the other and say a few words between them. Beautiful voices, powerful with a perfect touch of aggressiveness that I love.    

Impressive! They finish with « Read My Mind », much to the delight of my fellow fan who has been asking for it since the beginning. Excellent performance, I will definitely put some of their songs on my playlists while waiting for their next show!

THE PLANET SMASHERS
The veterans of the Quebec ska scene need no introduction. They have been making people dance and sing for so many years. Such talented and friendly musicians. There’s always a festive ambiance during theirs shows. You feel like you are part of a big family. That’s the word that comes to mind when I think of the ambiance at L’Anti right now. 

As soon as they start playing, the room becomes one big dance floor.

You can’t get enough of their timeless songs. And what an incredible sound! The sound guy is a genius!   You can enjoy every note without having your ears blown out. Unfortunately, it’s quickly time for the encore (yes they still exist). The band leaves without playing their greatest hits, so we all know they’ll be back. They save the best two for last – « Super Orgy Porno Party » and of course, my favorite, « Life Of The Party »!

A great night that perfectly starts my 2023 year of shows, when ska will be in the spotlight.
